In Loving Memory of Our Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend Larry Dixon 

August 26, 1952 – September 15, 2026

Some people enter your life and leave behind memories. Others leave behind a piece of themselves in everyone they meet. Larry Dixon was that kind of person—a beloved husband, our father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Larry was born on August 26, 1952, in Plowden, Jamaica, in the parish of Manchester, where he spent his early years before moving to New York in 1970. 

As fate would have it, the woman who would one day become his wife was on that same plane traveling to the United States. Yet, despite sharing that journey, their paths would not truly cross until years later.In 1977, Larry met his future wife at a neighborhood house party. They would later discover that they had been living just one street away from each other. What began as a chance meeting grew into a love that would span nearly five decades.On August 25, 1979, Larry married the love of his life. A year later, Sacha joined the family and 5 years later, Kesheia was born. In time, he became a proud grandfather to Anaya Makayla, Ivy Pearl, Victoria Gabrielle, and Lily LaRen.

In 1974, Larry was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Korea. He later received an honorable discharge. His commitment to service continued throughout his life. Larry was initiated into Mechanic Lodge in New York, but after moving to Florida, he became a member of The Masonic Order Sunrise Lodge #709 in 1989, getting accolades to the 33rd Degree.Through his Masonic involvement, Larry participated in and supported community efforts including back-to-school drives and turkey giveaways during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Giving back was simply another way Larry showed up for the people around him.Larry began his professional career as a computer programmer with Manufacturers Hanover Trust, where he was later promoted to Systems Analyst. The institution would eventually become part of Chase. When Larry moved to Florida in 1988, he left his New York career behind and took a leap into entrepreneurship. Later that year, he purchased RC Dental Lab, which he owned and operated until selling the business in 2016. Larry's entrepreneurial spirit was not limited to his professional life. He also had a deep love for music and created Classic Productions, through which he promoted music and reggae events in the Orlando area. He worked with various reggae DJs, including David Rodigan, combining his business sense with his genuine love of music. Larry was kind, confident, giving, and caring. He enjoyed people, conversation, competition, and—perhaps most of all—a good debate. One of his closest friendships was with his longtime friend Claude. Every time Larry and Claude connected, the banter, and arguments, were almost guaranteed. At the height of a heated discussion like clockwork, they would summon the kids: Shanelle, Claudine, Sacha or Kay and tell them to get the encyclopedia or the Bible to help settle the dispute. Even though Claude and Larry could no longer banter like they used to, Claude made sure he came to see his brother at least once a week. And then there were dominoes. Every Friday night was for dominoes with the brothers. Larry loved the fellowship and fraternity of those gatherings, but make no mistake - he came to win. The goal was “six love.” The brotherhood mattered, the laughter mattered, the stories mattered—but Larry absolutely wanted the victory. Larry also had a passion for deep-sea fishing. He loved being out on the open water and never turned down a chance to fish. The adventure brought him genuine happiness and gave him plenty of stories to tell. 

Unfortunately, in 2016, Larry's family began noticing signs of memory loss. In 2017, at the age of 65, he was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia. As his needs increased, his wife made the selfless decision to retire so she could care for him. In 2019, the family moved to Tampa to be closer to their daughters. Through every difficult season, Larry remained surrounded by love. His wife, children, grandchildren, and a few close friends remained beside him. We also emphasize those friends who consistently went the extra mile by showing up to support not just Larry, but also, Jennifer, his loyal wife and his children. His care team—Barbara, De’Anna, Ms. Faye, Richard, Ms. Noreen, Jose, and Miledy—became much more than caregivers. They became part of the family. Their compassion, dedication, and love will always be remembered with gratitude.

Larry passed peacefully at home on September 15, 2026, surrounded by his family. We will miss his smile and humor. We will miss his voice, his stories, and the way he could turn an ordinary gathering into something worth remembering. We will miss the stories from his fishing adventures. Most of all, we will miss him. Now it is our turn to carry his love forward. Until we meet again, Dad, may the dominoes always fall in your favor. Your love will remain with us always, Rest peacefully, Brother Dixon. Our Father, Larry, is preceded in death by his parents, George Dixon & Viris Davy and his sister, Sandra Davy. He is survived by his two brothers, his wife Mrs. Jennifer Dixon, nee’ Hutchinson, his adult daughters, Sacha James, and Kesheia Victor, his beloved Son-in-Law, Dwayne James, his granddaughters, Anaya McKayla James, Ivy Pearl James, Victoria Gabrielle Victor, Lily LaRen Victor.
