Joyce Ann Humphrey 1952 – 2026

Joyce Ann Humphrey, a beloved wife, mother, educator, and entrepreneur, passed away on April 24, 2026, just one day shy of her 74th birthday. A woman of grace and ambition, Joyce split her time and her heart between Hingham, Massachusetts, and Land O’ Lakes, Florida.

For 54 years, Joyce was the devoted wife of Barry Humphrey. Together, they built a life defined by family and shared adventure. While Barry was stationed in the Navy in Antigua, Joyce turned their time in the West Indies into a scholarly pursuit, graduating from Lesley College after penning an impactful study on the local classrooms she served. Her passion for education continued back home, where she taught in the Hingham School System.

A natural leader, Joyce also successfully balanced her career as a business owner with the joys of raising her family. She was the proud mother of Melissa A. Humphrey (Michael Lincoln) of Hingham and Jeffrey A. Humphrey (Amanda) of Land O’ Lakes. She was the cherished grandmother of Kitana Jade Marie Johnson and Harper James Humphrey, and is now reunited in peace with her grandson, the late Landon James Humphrey.

The daughter of the Anthony and Mary Zaia, Joyce is survived by her brothers, John Zaia (Dianne) and Dominic Zaia (Ann), as well as a large, loving network of nieces, nephews, and extended family across the United States.

Joyce’s legacy of kindness, intelligence, and entrepreneurial spirit will be missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
