Joe Doughty

September 20, 1955 — April 30, 2026

Raymond “Joe” Doughty, of Glassboro, NJ passed away on April 30, 2026. He was 70 years old.

In Joe’s younger years, he was an accomplished quarterback for Clayton High School’s Class of 1974, he led with determination and heart, and he also made his mark on the baseball field as a pitcher. His love for sports stayed with him throughout his life. Joe, a skilled carpenter who took great pride in working with his hands, found satisfaction in building, fixing, and creating, always willing to help family and friends with projects big or small.

A man who embraced life fully and simply. Whether riding his motorcycle down an open road or working on his tan in his backyard, his greatest joy was being surrounded by the people and animals he loved most. A perfect day for him meant sitting outside with his grandchildren and pups, the grill going with hotdogs and hamburgers, laughter in the air, and a game playing somewhere in the background.

He was a die-hard sports fan—if there was a game on, he was watching it. From football, golf, to baseball and everything in between, sports were more than entertainment; they were a passion he shared with his family. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren compete, always their biggest fan. Pop-Pop could be found at any football game, basketball game or cheer competition, usually with something delicious from the snack shack in hand.

Joe had a special gift—he could make a friend anywhere he went. His easy smile, kind nature, and infectious laugh drew people in instantly. He had a genuine love of people and believed in helping others, always ready with a paint brush or hammer in hand.

His love for his family was steady and unwavering, shown not just in words, but in everyday actions.

Predeceased by his parents, Raymond J. and Marie, Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Doughty; his children Brian, Jaclyn and her husband Rob; his sister Rita and her husband Bill; 6 cherished grandchildren, Brian, Brielle, Robert, Ryder, Raegan and Ridge.
