Elizabeth M. "Dee" Fisher
August 6, 1926 — April 8, 2026
Elizabeth M."Dee" Fisher (nee Miller), 99, of Woodbury Heights, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth Fisher, a cherished mother, grandmother and friend, on April 8, 2026. Elizabeth was surrounded by her family and caregivers, who ensured she left this world with grace and dignity. Born on August 6, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth was the beloved daughter of James and Jennifer Miller. She lived a remarkable 99 years, filled with love, perseverance and unwavering strength.
Elizabeth's life was marked by her devotion to family and an indomitable spirit. At a young age, she left school to help care for her parents, yet her keen intellect and quickness with numbers led her to success first at Penn Fruit Company and later as a bank teller. In 1945, Elizabeth married her love Glenn J. Fisher, whom she met at a USO dance at the US Naval Yard in Philadelphia. They raised their two girls, Anna Dee and Glenda, in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey. An active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Woodbury, Elizabeth's faith was an important part of her life, guiding her actions and providing solace in times of need. She was a strong-willed, hard-working, caring and honest woman, attributes that endeared her to others.
Elizabeth had a passion for baking, often starting on dozens of Christmas cookies in early fall, and she delighted in tending to her African violets and well-kept yard. She loved music from the 1950s, dancing the jitterbug, and sitting on her back deck at the end of a day. Her home was a haven of warmth especially during the holidays, where she taught her family the art of jumping double dutch. Later in life, Elizabeth found joy in weekends spent at the Jersey shore, enjoying the simple pleasures of boat life with friends. Her legacy is carried forward by daughter, Glenda Bryant, and granddaughter, Amanda Horn. Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving husband, Glenn; siblings Dorothy, Henrietta, Virginia, Edward, William, and James; her beloved daughter, Anna Dee; friend and son-in-law, John; and dear grandson, Christopher.
Elizabeth's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brightview Senior Living in Woodbury. Their care and kindness added much joy to Elizabeth's later years and provided comfort to her family.
A Funeral Mass celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held on Thursday April 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 62 Delaware St, Woodbury, NJ 08096. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the extraordinary life of this remarkable woman. Interment to follow in Woodbury Memorial Park West Deptford, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice in Elizabeth's name. Elizabeth Fisher's legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched as they carry forward the lessons of love, strength, and resilience she imparted throughout her life.
