It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother Kathleen Joyce Long, who died Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the age of 81.

Born on August 18, 1945, to Rachel Frisbey and James E. Lucas, Kathleen (Kathy) grew up in Woodbury, New Jersey surrounded by her sisters and the large, loving extended Frisbey family. Mom went on to be a nurse, working in various institutions including but not limited to Underwood Memorial and Graduate Hospital, until she retired. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Leon I. Long, for over 60 years. Kathleen was preceded in death by her two sisters, Carol Jean Jones and Judy Lucas, mother, Rachel Frisbey, and father James E. Lucas.

Kathy was a loving, kind, devoted wife, sister, mother, and friend. She lived her life quietly, helping others while not expecting praise or attention. She taught her children the importance of family and to always treat others how they wanted to be treated. Kathy loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren, who called her Gram. She looked forward to the weekly Facetime calls to get updates from them. The memories of family gatherings and Facetime calls with her will be cherished for generations.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Leon I. Long Jr., five daughters, Gina Chierici (Doug), Dr. Deneen Long-White (Kelly), Joya Long (Carrie), June Long (Meghan), and Rachell Long; five granddaughters and one grandson (Kathleen, Yasmine, Erika, Bria, Dakota, Kelly); five great grandchildren (Shayla, Zameena, Nadeera, Ameera, Kanerys); many in-laws, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Although our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the years we were blessed to share with her. Her love, lessons, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain with us forever. Her legacy will continue through the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at McGuinness Funeral Home located at 34 Hunter Street in Woodbury, New Jersey. Visitation will occur from 1:00pm – 2:00pm. The service will begin at 2:00pm.
