Richard Maxwell

Richard Maxwell, 82, of Blackwood, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Augus 11, 2026.

Richard was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and moved to Pittsburg, California, where he was a Police Officer for 30 years, before retiring. After his many years of service, he still kept busy and worked selling medical supplies for Medline.

“Max” as he was known by many, had a heart of gold. He was loved by all who knew him and was often a “Ride or Die” kind of guy, especially for the love of his life, Phyllis. He enjoyed fishing and bowling and spending time with his close friends, family and of course Phyllis. The two of them truly enjoyed each other’s company and were the perfect example of what “True Love” means.

Beloved husband of 42 years to Phyllis (nee: Walker) Maxwell; loving father of Vicky Maxwell, Tracy Hewitt, Michael Maxwell and Brian Hewitt and grandfather of Carissa, Alexis, Melany and Tatum; dear brother of Cheryl Maxwell. He is predeceased by his parents, Warren and Doris and also his son Eric.

Funeral service will take place privately.
