Susan Marie Hubbs
August 24, 1965 — May 11, 2026
Susan Marie Hubbs (nee Saylor), 60, of Wenonah, NJ passed away on May 11, 2026.
Sue, a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, gracious manners, and the tender heart that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments — especially enjoying Victorian tea, complete with delicate finger sandwiches, warm conversation, and the comfort of togetherness. Thoughtful, thankful, and endlessly polite, she was the kind of person who never said no when someone needed help, kindness, or simply a listening ear.
She had a well-known love for Diet Coke, adored her beloved beagles, and poured her creativity into the hobbies that became lifelong passions. An avid crocheter and knitter, she lovingly made socks, blankets, and treasured handmade gifts for family and friends, each stitch carrying her warmth and care. Her creativity also flourished through crafting soaps and candles, which brought beauty and comfort not only to her own home but to the lives of those around her. Crafting was not simply a hobby to her — it was an expression of her loving and giving nature.
She proudly served her community as a dispatcher for Gloucester County and Deptford Township Police, dedicating herself to helping others with calmness and compassion. Earlier in life, while working as a registrar at Kennedy Hospital in Sewell, she met the love of her life. It was love at first sight with the man who would become her husband, and together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and family.
Above all, Sue will be remembered for the way she made people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved. Her home, her hands, and her heart were always open. The blankets she stitched, the candles she poured, the cups of tea she shared, and the kindness she showed will remain lasting comforts to all who knew her.
Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Susan Saylor, Jr., she is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Stephen M. Hubbs; her 2 cherished children, Shannon and Stephen Jr.; her dear sister and her husband, Maureen and David Garrett; beloved Beagles, Bishop, Belle, Bentley and Briar. Sue is also survived by her extended family and dear friends and colleagues alike.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, May 18, 2026 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter St., Woodbury, NJ 08096.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 10:00am at Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret’s Church, 3rd and Beech St., Woodbury Heights, NJ. Interment will follow in Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
