William J. Wright
Sep 25, 1954 — Oct 26, 2026
William J. Wright, 72, of West Deptford, NJ passed away at Cooper Medical Center on October 26, 2026.
Bill was a big outdoorsman with a love for adventure, the open air, and making memories with family and friends. Growing up in New York, he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors, which he carried with him through countless camping trips to the Adirondacks before eventually moving to New Jersey and Batsto when he arrived in New Jersey.
Whether he was fishing, canoeing, camping, cooking over a campfire, or firing up the grill, Bill was happiest outdoors. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan, making multiple trips to Dover with the guys to enjoy the races and the camaraderie that came along with them.
One of his specialties was chicken wings cooked over the campfire. There was no recipe, no measuring, and certainly no written instructions. He just “winged it,” and somehow, that was part of what made it so good. He had his own way of doing things, and that was just fine with him.
Bill was fun, quirky, and full of personality, with a quick wit and a wonderfully mischievous sense of humor. He had a gift for delivering the most inappropriate joke at exactly the right moment, often when everyone least expected it. He knew how to get people laughing and bring a little levity to any situation. Bill was personable, easy to talk to, and well liked by so many. He had a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and over the years, he built friendships wherever he went.
Predeceased by his parents, William E. and Ortha Wright, and brother Michael Wright, he is survived by his sister, Linda Victor; son, Justin Wright; and his niece and nephews, Rachael, John and Logan. Bill is also survived by his extended family and dear friends he has met along his journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, November 2, 2026 from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the McGuinness Funeral Home, 34 Hunter Street, Woodbury.
