Betty G Mendoza

 Betty G. Mendoza passed away peacefully on the morning of August 6th, 2026 surrounded by her children and in the tender heartfelt care of the loving and giving caretakers at Jim and Patti's Assisted Living Home. Betty was 98 years old.

Service will be held Friday, August 14th at 10 a.m at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 141 N. MacDonald, Mesa, AZ. Following the mass, burial will take place at the City of Mesa Cemetery, 1212 N. Center St. There will be a reception that follows at the Queen of Peace hall.

She was born Betty Gaona in Miami, Arizona on January 26 1928. She was the 11th child of 14 children and dearly loved her parents Nicolas and Victoria Gaona.

She attended grade school and high school in Mesa, Arizona. She met Bennie Mendoza (deceased in 2017) and they were happily married until Bennie's passing.

They had 5 children: Richard (Susan); Margaret (Thilo); Theresa (Roberto); Carolyn (Stephen); and Thomas (Kim). And also 11 Grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Betty was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked as a payroll bookkeeper, was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver, a tough scrabble player and dearly loved watching sports, especially baseball. Most of all she loved the gatherings with her family and friends, being surrounded in their company, sharing stories, sharing laughter and sharing wonderful food.

The memories of Betty as our mother, grandmother, as a sister, aunt and friend will forever be in our hearts.
