Darlene Englebright
Dec 24, 1939 — Sep 26, 2026
Darlene Englebright passed away at the age of 86, on September 26, 2026.
She was born in Jerome, AZ, on December 24, 1939. Darlene graduated from Florence High School in 1957. She then attended Lamson’s Business College and learned to be a court stenographer.
Darlene married M.D. Englebright at First Presbyterian Church in Florence, AZ, in May 1959. She worked for the Pinal County Courthouse as a court reporter then became a legal secretary. They later moved to Phoenix. Darlene worked as the church secretary at Christ Presbyterian Church and then worked as an administrative assistant at Tolleson High School. She retired from the Tolleson School District in the early 2000s, around the time that she and M.D. moved to Mesa, AZ.
Three things were important to Darlene in her life: Jesus, people and helping others. Darlene was devoted to Jesus and His teachings through her life. She had reread the Bible she received from her Confirmation yearly- until it was literally falling apart. It’s also often been said about Darlene “she’s never met a stranger!” She loved people! She was so interested in sharing stories and laughs with anyone she met. From her closest family members to someone who worked on her car or house- we all walked away with a new friend and someone we knew cared about us. Helping others and volunteering was one of the major tenants of Darlene’s life. She would volunteer her time, money, food, or whatever she had to give to anyone who needed it. She was a Girl Scout leader for a few years, a deacon at her church, volunteered at local schools, and gave money to many charities that were important to her. Darlene exemplified the teaching of “Love God. Love your neighbor.”
Darlene is survived by her two children Pamela (James) and Michael (Arlene), her grandchildren Jessica (Jonathan), Amanda, Tabitha (Andrew), and Aaron, and her 5 great-grandchildren Tressie, Brock, Willow, Finn, and Nathan. She is also survived by her sister LaVerne, brothers Raymond and Charles (Cora), sister-in-law Mary Ann and many nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest with her husband M.D. at City of Mesa Cemetery.
