Frank Allen Hefner, 92, passed away on September 14th 2025, in Mesa, AZ. He was the loving husband of his late first wife, Virginia Whitmer Hefner, married for 38 years, and present wife, Eva Rae Grimshaw-Hefner, 35 years. Frank was born in a Motor Court in Flagstaff, AZ, September 21st, 1932. He was the son of George Allen Hefner and Ellen Aline Kermode Hefner. He graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1951 He was active in the ROTC Program. He attended Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. On August 23, 1952, Frank and Virginia were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Frank and Eve were married in the Utah St. George Temple June 30th, 1990. He dropped out of college to work full time and received a draft notice from Uncle Sam. He went to Fort Lewis, Washington for his Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training, he was trained as a mechanic. He was shipped to Germany then France. In France, Virginia was able to be with him and their first son David Allen was born. After returning to the States, he worked for a standard oil company and managed several service stations. In 1976 he opened his auto repair shop and managed it until his retirement in January 1998. He loved having his sons work alongside him. One of his greatest joys there was giving the kids stickers, and they were all his friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and Eve also served at Adam-ondi-Ahman 2001-2002 and the AZ Tempe Mission 2006-2008. He had also served in the AZ Mesa Temple as an ordinance worker and a short mission at Family History. His real love was the Storehouse after he retired and all the lovely people he was able to serve in the Mesa and Gilbert area.
Frank is survived by wife, Eve, six children, David Allen, (Shannon Trader), Gary, Carolyn Cayton, (Dennis), Susan, George Benjamin, (Anne DeLorenzis), Rudger Lee, (Catherine Wisz), 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, September 20th, 2025, 11am, with a viewing Friday night from 6pm to 8pm at the LDS Chapel, located at 2700 E Guadalupe Road, Gilbert, AZ 85234. Interment will be at the Mesa City Cemetery.
