Glen Leon Brown

Glen Leon Brown of Gilbert, Arizona passed away August 30, 2026 at the age of 77.

Born in Ogden Utah September 17, 1948, he was the 4th of nine children born to Fred LeRoy Brown and Mary LaRue Tippets.

He attended schools in Ogden, graduating from Ben Lomond High. After graduation, he attended Weber State College for a year, then was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning from the military, he moved to Arizona and finished his associate’s degree at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona. He transferred to ASU to continue his education. He married Lenore Shelley of Mesa, Arizona July 16, 1971 in the Mesa Arizona temple.

Glen's working career was pretty varied. He was a cook at a local restaurant while in high school. During college, he was a jailer with Maricopa County Sheriff's Department, a Honda motorcycle salesman, and a cook at various Sambos restaurants in the Phoenix area. He later went into their management program and bought a Sambos Restaurant in El Paso, TX. The company went through a merger and he left the company, returning to Arizona. He owned and ran three Dairy Queens in Phoenix and Tempe. After selling the restaurants, he began driving cement mixers and belly dumps working on many major Phoenix freeway projects as well as road widening near the Mogollon Rim. After a heart attack, he lost his CDL license and had to give up the driving. He went to work for the US Postal Service, where he spent the next 28 years, until his retirement.

As a motorcycle salesman, he purchased bikes for himself and his wife. Soon after, the entire Arizona family owned bikes. Many hours were spent camping and dirt biking with family and friends up in the northern half of Arizona. Several family members still own and ride bikes to this day

A cowboy at heart, his passion was always horses. Even as a child his dream was to have horses. His first horse was purchased but had to be boarded elsewhere. After the heart attack, horse property was purchased in Gilbert, allowing horses in the back yard. He bought, bred and raised 20+ horses during a 30 year period.

He was a member of the Arizona Rangers. They were mounted (on horses) doing search/rescue, and security detail, and of course, parades. He had the opportunity to work security detail for President George Bush on one of his Arizona visits.

A second passion was cars. His biggest regret was selling his 1934 3-window coupe when he left for the Army. It was candy apple red with hot pink button-tufted interior. He continued to have a fixer upper car to work on.

He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, children Scott, and Shelley Kajic (Jasenko), grand children Ashley (Ernesto), Justin, Grant, Juleon, Adrian, Darian and Gabriel.

He is survived by siblings: Neil (Marty), Alan (Darcy), and Korene (Paul) and multiple nieces, nephews,    in-laws and outlaws!

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Gary (Carolyn), Carl (Debbie), Mark, Maxine (Dennis) and VerDene (Craig).

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 19, 2026 at the Cullumber Ward building at 220 East Cullumber, Gilbert, AZ 85234. A viewing will be at the same location on Friday evening from      6- 8 pm and also one hour immediately before the services.
