Janice Allen

Janice Allen passed away on February 15, 2026 in Gilbert, AZ. She was preceded in death by younger brothers John and Doug Webster, and older sister Nedra Thygerson, who passed away days earlier. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John, and by two of her children, Brady and Brandt, and two grandchildren, Brandon and Adelaide. She is survived by oldest brother Frank and younger sister Lorna Whatcott, as well as sons Corey (Courtney), Timothy (Shirell), Justin (Mindy) and Tyler, and daughters Marilla Olson (Casey), Valora Hintze (Eric), and Amber Heywood (Richard), and Brandt’s wife Sarah Sandstrom. Janice has 40 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Janice was born in Morenci, AZ on October 2, 1944 to Lavon Edward Webster and Harriet Valora Butler. She grew up happy and healthy in a loving home in Clifton, AZ. She graduated from Clifton High School in 1962. She was a great student at Clifton, and loved being a flutist in the band, singing, and performing in musicals, one of her highlights being the female lead in HMS Pinafore. She spent many summers between high school and college years staying with family in Eagar, AZ while working and having lots of fun with her sister Nedra, cousins and friends in the Round Valley area, especially attending dances several nights a week at different locations around the area.

She attended Brigham Young University in Provo UT beginning Fall1962. While attending BYU, she made lifelong friends and met her husband John Allen from Winslow, AZ. They were married in 1965 in the Mesa AZ LDS temple. Married life started out in Scottsdale, AZ for a short time, then Tempe for 10 years, and Gilbert for 34 years. She and John lived their last several years in Mesa, AZ.

Janice always had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, and was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding and magnifying many callings. Those who knew her knew that “Janice” is synonymous with “music”, with many of her church callings being in music, and passed this love down to her children and grandchildren. She and John served two 18 month missions together, primarily doing records preservation. The first was in Philadelphia, PA and then again in Montreal, QC.

She leaves a legacy of love of family, and an example of righteousness for all who knew her, and will be missed by family and many close friends she has made through all walks of life.
