Thomas Oscar Miller

Thomas Oscar Miller, 62, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at 11:41 a.m. at Ryan House, following a two-month battle after a heart attack. He was surrounded by those who loved him and was cremated in his Temple garments.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Lloyd Miller and Nedra Nell Sirrine Miller. He came from deep Latter-day Saint pioneer roots on both sides of his family, descended from early settlers who helped build communities throughout the West, including Mesa, Arizona.

Tom served an LDS mission in Kalispell, Montana, in the late 1980s. After returning to Mesa, he earned an Applied Associate Degree in Aircraft Maintenance and spent 20 years as an aircraft mechanic with Marsh Aviation. His work took him around the world. He spent the final 15 years of his career as a shovel and drill mechanic for ASARCO in Kearny, Arizona.

Tom is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laura Miller; his children, Chad, Jessika, Ricky, and Thomas W.; his granddaughter, Elizabeth; and his siblings, Karen, Charles, Martha, William, and Steven.

Tom will be remembered for his kind heart, his curious mind, and the encouragement he gave so freely to those he loved.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ivy Ward, 1430 N. Grand Street, Mesa, Arizona 85201. Lunch will follow.
