Tim Dennis Conway
Obituary
Tim D. Conway
Tim D. Conway passed away peacefully. Tim was born in Los Angeles, CA and spent his youth first in San Pedro, then Upland CA. As a child he spent hours exploring nature in the Mojave Desert with his father and uncle. He also enjoyed spending summers hiking and fishing with his aunt and uncle in the Mammoth Lakes Basin in a cabin overlooking Twin Lakes. He passed on his love for the natural world to his children who have wonderful memories of happy times spent there.
He graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and went on to receive a master's in electrical engineering from UC Berkeley. He started working at Sunkist, designing innovative fruit imaging systems and continued as a sole proprietor for his company, Circuits and Systems, for over five decades. In his long association with Sunkist there are many patents attributed to Tim.
Tim and Mary met in the Stockton Bicycle Club. After getting married, they raised their three kids in Stockton. He and Mary moved to their dream retirement community, Monterey, in 2007. He loved the camaraderie of pickle ball and pool and his weekly visit to the library to satisfy his love of reading. He enjoyed working on the family sailboat, which Mary and Kate raced competitively.
He valued traditions including watching the Tour de France every year. Watching Darby O’Gill and the Little People on St. Patrick’s Day with his family and having fireworks on the 4th of July. Tim was also the family poker shark whose deep knowledge of card games led to late night competitions after family get-togethers.
Tim is the son of Donald George Conway and Edith Clara Henry Conway and his step-Mother, Mary Beitzell Conway of Upland, California. Tim is survived by his wife and their three children. Tim also was the proud grandfather of two grandsons. In addition Tim is survived by his two sisters.
He will be remembered as a kind, intelligent, humble man, who loved his family dearly. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations/gifts to the Monterey County food bank in his memory. No services as per his wish.
