Betty Jean Alexander
Jun 28, 1934 — Aug 21, 2026
Betty Jean Alexander was born on June 28, 1934, in Anderson, South Carolina, to Lois Presley and King Hardy. In 1950, she met and married Robert Alexander in South Carolina, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service.
Between the years of 1954 and 1965, Betty and Robert were blessed with five sons and two daughters. As a proud military family, they moved wherever the U.S. Army sent them, including Germany, France, Colorado and California. Their first two sons were born in Colorado and France, and by 1958 the Alexander family was stationed at Fort Ord , California and settled on Luxton Street in Seaside.
In early 1968, Betty and Robert purchased a new home on the top of LaSalle Hill in Seaside, where Betty lived joyfully for more than 58 years. She took great pride in her home, and her love for it was reflected in the way she decorated and designed it. Her house was filled with treasured photographs of family and friends, creating a warm place full of memories and comfort. To help support her young family, Betty worked as a certified private duty nurse at Carmel Convalescent Home, Highland Inn, and Parklane Senior Facility. At one point, she also owned and operated a private daycare center from her home.
Betty was a devoted mother who supported her children in every way possible. She volunteered with the PTA, helped sponsor the Seaside chapter of the Children’s Television Workshop, attended sporting events, and served as a den mother for the local Boy Scouts chapter of the Monterey Peninsula. She was also a loving and active grandmother who helped raise many of her grandchildren. Betty’s life was marked by dedication to her family, her home, and her community, and she will be remembered for the love, care, and strength she gave so freely to others.
Betty peacefully transitioned into her heavenly home from her cherished earthly home in Seaside on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 12:33pm. In her last days, Betty received covering prayers at her home from ordained ministers of community hospital of Monterey. Betty also got to interact with each of her four children and her dear grandson Darrell Sostand who all provided her with constant loving care.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory four children Steven Alexander (Lynette) - Seaside, CA, Raymond Alexander (Nancy) -Marina, CA , Monica Alexander- Coleman - Daleville, AL , Teacolia Alexander- Marina, CA., and daughter-in-law Galaxia Alexander-Seaside, CA. Betty loved her dog named King very much, and their companionship brought her great joy and comfort.
Preceding her in death was her dear husband Robert Alexander of 41 years, sons, Robert Lee Alexander, Jerome Alexander, and Tony Alexander Sr. , grandsons Tony Alexander Jr and Jaime Alexander. We rest in knowing she is not alone and is celebrating in heaven with her loved ones
