Franklin Truman Meachum

June 7, 1956 – October 14, 2026

Franklin Truman Meachum, 70, of Marina, California, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Born in Athens, Georgia, Frank spent his early years moving with his family from Georgia to North Carolina and then Virginia. Following the passing of his father, the family relocated to California to be closer to his mother's family.

Frank attended local schools on the Monterey Peninsula before continuing his education at Monterey Peninsula College, where he studied drafting. He began his career at Lee and Associates, where his interest in computers eventually led him into information technology. He taught himself and never stopped learning, whether through technical schools, training courses, or industry conferences. He spent his entire career with the company, retiring when it was known as Axiom Engineers.

Frank was never one to hold back his opinion; his sense of humor wasn't always appropriate, and his one-line sayings would make you cringe, but they were what made him unmistakably Frank.

For 40 years, Frank shared his life with his wife, Virginia (Ginny). Together they raised a family and attended more concerts than anyone could count. Frank usually picked the music, although Ginny occasionally got a turn. He called her “Honey Bunches,” and his favorite way of telling her he loved her was, “I love you the mostess.”

Music was one of Frank's greatest loves. His kids grew up with the Beatles blasting through the house on weekends, and as far as he was concerned, you could never go to too many Allman Brothers concerts. He loved going to shows, recording and mixing music, and learning the stories behind his favorite songs. He could spend hours talking about music with anyone who would listen, discussing everything from the musicians to the structure and history of a song. He shared that love of music with his sons and grandsons, taking them to concerts and on the Blues Cruise.

Frank had high expectations for his children and an unwavering belief in their abilities. He was proud of his family and enjoyed sharing their accomplishments with others.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Meachum; his children, Frank Meachum (Maria), Daniel Meachum (Pamela), and Drianna Waibel (Donald); his grandchildren, Matthew Meachum, Daniel Meachum Jr., Raymond Sandoval III, Brendon Waibel, and Jack Waibel; and his brother, Edward Meachum.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Meachum and Patty Taylor.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 11:30 a.m., at Mission Memorial Park on Ord Grove Avenue in Seaside, California.
