Josefa Maria Lambert

Josefa (Jody) Maria Lambert passed peacefully on April 12, 2026. She was 90 years old. Jody was a resident at Carmel Hills Care in Monterey, California. She had lived there for the past several years.

Jody was born on July 24, 1935, to Josef and Theresia Dantele of Augsburg, Germany. Jody married William (Bill) Gregory Lambert on June 1, 1955, Augsburg, Germany.

Jody worked in the hospitality industry for over 40 years on the Monterey Peninsula. She and Bill owned the Kaffee Klatch Restaurant in Pacific Grove for five years, until Bill died in 1973. Jody then worked in the catering department at the Del Monte Hyatt House in Monterey for several years before retiring.

Jody loved to read and play games, such as Bingo, Yahtzee, and Gin Rummy, with Gin Rummy being her favorite. She had a great sense of humor. Her German accent made for a lot of teasing from us kids! She was a very social person. She loved people and animals, especially dogs and cats.

Jody is survived by her 5 children, Anita (Mark) Madison, Michael “Buddy” (Cris) Lambert, Glenda (Jeff) Gibson, Tammy (Ernie) Nanney, and Jaqueline Shortt.

Jody is survived by six grandchildren, Derek Gibson, Jason Brewer, Steven Shortt, Jr., Jessica Lambert, Courtney Elvira, and Ryan Nanney, and five great-grandchildren, Chloe and Hunter Gibson, Cason and Stassi Elvira, and Elijah Nanney.

Jody was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Theresia and Aloisia, her granddaughter, Ashley Madison, and son-in-law, Steven Shortt, Sr.

The family would like to thank the Carmel Hills Care Center Nursing Home for the amazing and compassionate care they provided to our mother. Our family would also like to thank Montage Supportive and Palliative Care, which supported and directed us through the passing of our beloved mother.

A memorial service will be held on May 7, 2026, at 10:00 am at Mission Mortuary & Memorial Park, located at 1915 Ord Grove Ave. Seaside, California.
