Joan LaFern Loschiavo

Feb 16, 1949 — Sep 15, 2026

Joan LaFern (Marshall) Loschiavo, 77, of the Clarkes area of Mulino, Oregon, passed away on September 15, 2026.

Joan was born on February 16, 1949, in Oregon City, Oregon, to John and Fay Marshall. She grew up in the area and graduated from Molalla High School.

After high school, Joan pursued a degree in education. Her college years took her to Mt. Angel College, Clackamas Community College, where she was a member of the college’s first graduating class, and Oregon College of Education, now known as Western Oregon University. She ultimately earned her degree from Portland State University.

After completing her education, Joan’s career took a different direction when she entered the payroll industry. She worked for First National Bank and Precision Castparts before joining ADP, where she spent approximately 30 years. During her career at ADP, Joan held various positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately leading ADP’s Portland office of the Small Business Services division as Service Center Executive before retiring.

On August 12, 1972, Joan married Nicholas “Nick” Loschiavo. Together they raised their two sons, Keith and Kevin, and shared nearly 48 years of marriage before Nick passed away on August 7, 2020.

Camping was part of Joan and Nick’s life together from the very beginning. They went camping for their honeymoon and, despite discovering they had forgotten the tent poles, Joan made it work and they still enjoyed their trip. Over the years, camping remained an important part of family life. Many trips were spent at Prineville Reservoir State Park, where the family would take the boat and spend their days relaxing on the lake and fishing. Later, camping evolved into traveling by RV and staying at different RV parks throughout Oregon and Washington.

Joan also loved to travel. Over the years, she enjoyed several cruises that took her to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico, as well as a cruise through the Panama Canal.

Retirement gave Joan more time to enjoy life at her own pace. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law, Sherry Marshall. After Joan retired, the two would get coffee and take a drive somewhere together almost every day. Sometimes the simple routine of getting coffee and seeing where the road took them was all the adventure they needed.

Above all, Joan loved her family. She is survived by her sons, Keith (Wendy) Loschiavo and Kevin (Kristi) Loschiavo; her grandson, Tanner; many nieces and nephews; and her two German Shorthaired Pointers, Lucy and Lacey, who were very much a part of her family.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; her parents, John and Fay Marshall; and her brother, Walt Marshall.

Joan will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who shared in the many trips, drives, camping adventures, conversations, and everyday moments that made up her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday October 18, 2026 at the Clarkes Grange Hall 19396 S Unger Rd, Beavercreek OR 97004
