LONG TIME MOLALLA RESIDENT Johnny Libero Selvaggi Johnny Libero Selvaggi, 82, of Molalla, Oregon, passed away on June 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, after a long battle with dementia. Born in Corvallis, Oregon Nov,1943, to Mary and Libero Selvaggi. He grew up in California next to his father's family. He joined the Navy after high school, served with COMCARDIV7 aboard the USS Kitty Hawk as a radioman. During the Vietnam war. He ventured to Oregon in 1973. With no experience in the timber industry, Crawford Logging gave him a chance, and he eventually, moved up to running a yarder. Dedicating 15 years to the timber industry with a work ethic that never wavered. He was proud of the life he built from that hard, honest labor — including the home he constructed with his own hands, supported by family and friends, board by board and year by year. As life moved forward, Johnny continued working in the world he loved. He drove Log trucks and Lowboys, and later spent a significant portion of his career at Avison Lumber, where he worked on nearly every piece of machinery in the yard. He serviced all the trucks, kept equipment running, and became the person everyone relied on when something needed fixing. His dedication to the timber and lumber industry was lifelong, steady, and deeply respected. Johnny also had many good friends throughout his life, with some friendships lasting over 70 years. He valued loyalty, laughter, and the kind of connection that stands the test of time. Those friendships were a testament to the man he was — dependable, genuine, and always willing to lend a hand. Outside of work, Johnny loved spending time with his daughter working on cars, camping in his motorhomes, and being surrounded by family and friends. He lived simply, loved deeply, and carried a quiet strength that shaped the lives around him. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Selvaggi, his daughter Gina Selvaggi, of Molalla, Oregon, Wendy Ferguson of New Mexico, and her mother Ann Delgado. 4 Grandchildren, and many great grandchildren. His legacy lives on in the skills he passed down, the home he built, the friendships he cherished, and the love he gave so freely. His family will continue to honor his life in the way he lived it — with togetherness, kindness, and the simple joys of being with the people you love. He will be laid to rest at LaVista Cemetery in National City, California, in the family plot.
