Ninette Stein passed away peacefully in her Oregon City home on May 22, 2026. She was born

Ninette Erma Lindsey on October 11,1940 in San Francisco, California to Lloyd and Nina

(Garrett) Lindsey.

She grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Cottage Grove Union High School in 1957,

where she excelled in academics, FFA, 4H, drama and vocal music. She earned a scholarship

to study at Lewis and Clark College, hoping to work with animals, as a veterinarian. However,

after one semester, she put her dream on hold and became a navy wife. She married Terrell

(Terry) Stein on New Year’s Eve 1957. They were blessed with two daughters, Savannah and

Heather.

The family lived the “city” life in the Portland area, while the girls were in school. Nettie worked

for the telephone company as a Corporate Communications Specialist. She excelled at this, but

never lost her dream of working with animals. Throughout her life, she was well known as one

all animals were drawn to.

In 1988, after their girls were grown, Terry and Nettie moved to a beautiful place in Molalla. For

this new phase in life, Nettie decided to pick up her old animal dream and become a goat

farmer. She turned 2 pet goats into Eden Hill Oberhausli Goats, a herd that was nationally

recognized for milk production and butterfat. She was well known in the goat community as a

knowledgeable person who was always willing to stop and lend a helping hand, promoting dairy

goats throughout the state.

Nettie is survived by her daughters: Savannah Harris and Heather Conley (Larry). She was

“Granny” to 7 grandchildren: Adam (Julie), Sam and Ashley, Nick (Amanda), Ryan (Jen), Kyle

(Hai) and Steven and 6 great-grandchildren: Kayden & Cole, Khloe & Lennox, and Charlie &

Penny. She is also survived by her sister, Starling Wood and many nieces and nephews. Nettie

has gone to be with those loved ones who preceded her in death: her beloved husband, Terry,

her parents, two brothers, Gary and Bill, and the many countless animals she has lovingly cared

for throughout her life.
