BRITTNEY NICOLE BRAND
Obituary
Brittney Nicole Brand went to be with our Lord on April 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and dear friends. She was 37 years old.
Brittney was born on October 25, 1988, in Yorba Linda, California, to Jonathan and Bonnie Brand. In 2005, her family moved to Eugene, Oregon, where Brittney graduated from Willamette High School and went on to earn a degree in Multimedia Studies from the University of Oregon.
Brittney’s creativity and artistic spirit led her to a career she truly loved. She became the Morning News Director at KVAL, where her sharp eye, incredible dedication, and genuine kindness made her an important part of the KVAL family. It was also at KVAL that she met her longtime partner, News Anchor John Mayer. Together, they shared a life filled with love, laughter, and, of course, their beloved cat, Poe.
Outside of work, Brittney was a passionate movie lover and could happily lose herself in a good film. She loved video games, Dungeons & Dragons, and all things wonderfully geeky. She treasured quiet weekends at home with John and Poe—and probably appreciated a good excuse to stay in her pajamas even more than most of us.
Brittney was impossible to forget. She was full of boundless love, energy, and a famously quick and wonderfully sharp sense of humor. She could make people laugh when they least expected it and had a way of making those around her feel loved and accepted just as they were. She was fiercely loyal, deeply caring, and always ready with a perfectly timed comment.
Most of all, Brittney loved her people. She was a devoted partner, a beloved daughter, a cherished sister, and a loyal and treasured friend. Her heart was big, her personality was even bigger, and her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.
Brittney is survived by her loving partner, John Mayer; her parents, Jonathan and Bonnie Brand; her sisters, Abree and Hannah Brand; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Although we would give anything for more time with Brittney, we are grateful for every laugh, every hug, every ridiculous joke, every movie night, every game, and every ordinary moment that now feels extraordinary.
Brittney, you were deeply loved, you were fiercely cherished, and you will be missed beyond words. We know you would probably have something sarcastic to say about all this—and honestly, we wouldn't expect anything less.
Until we meet again, sweet girl...
