Dorlon D. Himber
September 24, 1933 — October 8, 2025
Dorlon D. Himber, age 92, of Eugene, OR, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane & Evelyn Himber, brother, Derald Himber, wife, Fran Himber, partner, Nancy Coughlin and granddaughter, Sarah Himber. He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Dave (Linda) Himber, Greg Himber, Steve (Vickie) Himber, Kathy (Rick) Thompson as well as seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Dorlon was born September 24, 1933 in Eugene. He graduated from Eugene High School and attended the University of Oregon. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis, where he married his wife, Fran, also of Eugene. Upon discharge from the military, Dorlon and Fran moved back to Eugene where they raised their four children. Dorlon went to work for his family’s business, F.C. Himber & Son, where he continued to run a successful business until his retirement.
Dorlon was an active member of the community with many hobbies which included attending U of O sporting events, golfing, playing bridge and stamp collecting. After his wife’s passing, Dorlon connected with his longtime schoolmate, Nancy. Together they were fortunate to travel the world. Dorlon was passionate about serving his community and served continually on the board of directors for the Goodwill of Lane County since the 1970’s. Dorlon was well loved by all those who were lucky enough to know him and he will be missed.
A memorial to celebrate Dorlon’s life will be held on October 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at West Lawn Memorial Funeral Home, 225 S Danebo Ave, Eugene, OR, 97402.
