Misy - Melissa Ann Hansen

Our wild-hearted sister, Misy (Melissa Ann Hansen), passed unexpectedly on May 16th, leaving behind a world that was brighter for having known her extraordinary spirit.

Misy was a woman who lived with her heart wide open - a well traveled jewelry maker and designer who forged beautiful creations with the same passion she brought to everything in her life. An entrepreneur with an adventurous soul, she carved out her own path in life with determination and grace. She accomplished her accounting degree summa cam laude, built her own tax preparation business, and was a fierce supporter of local small businesses.

Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through in her ownership of a home and in her ability to forge a life entirely her own design. She found equal joy in the precision of her craft and the thrill of a good game of pool. But it was in nature where her spirit truly soared - among the trees, by the lakes, collecting vistas and moments like precious gems.

She had an unmatched ability to collect people and community, turning strangers into family with her room-lighting smile. Her resplendent laugh, which made everyone feel her presence - the one with the perfect crinkle nose that could cure any sadness. Her love was fierce and loyal; if she chose you, you were completely, unwaveringly hers. She would do anything to protect and support her chosen people.

Animals knew her gentle heart, and she loved them with the same depth and authenticity she brought to all her relationships. Her wit and intelligence sparkled in every conversation, and her ingenuity and creativity set everyone around her on fire with stories of adventures and dreams yet to come.

Misy is survived by her longtime partner, Aaron Remak, of 6 years; her devoted siblings, Matthew, Luke, and Donnelle, her two cherished nieces and two beloved nephews who carry her crinkled-nose, laugh and fearless love, their beloved kitty family Mystery, and her babies, and countless friends who became family along the way. She leaves behind a legacy of authenticity, beauty, and the unwavering belief that the next chapter would always bring us together.

Though she planned to grow old among the woods and mountains with those she loved, her spirit now dwells in the stars, in dreams, and in every wild heart that refuses to be tamed.

Distance, time and this life will never keep us apart. You will be loved forever Misy.
