Pamela Jean McVay Simpson was born on December 27, 1951, in San Diego, California, to C and Marie McVay. She passed away on August 9, 2026. Pam was a longtime resident of Eugene, Oregon, and also kept a part-time residence in San Diego, California.
Pamela grew up in San Diego and graduated from Point Loma High School. She later moved to Oregon, where she married William D. Simpson in 1979. The couple made their home in Eugene, Oregon, where they resided for many years.
Pamela spent three decades working in the dental and orthodontics profession. She had a genuine passion for life and a gift for making everyone around her feel comfortable. Loving and devoted to her family, friends, and pets, she also found joy in gardening, crafting, ballroom dancing, and traveling on cruises with her husband and friends. She was truly the glue that held her family together, making everyone feel loved in her presence, and she lived her life taking care of others.
Pamela had a big personality and a caring heart, and she went out of her way to help anyone in need. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her, and her presence will not be easily replaced.
Pamela is survived by her husband, William Daniel Simpson, of Eugene, Oregon; her two children, Bradley W. Simpson of Kingsburg, California, and Diane L. McCallister of Vancouver, Washington; her three grandchildren, Tanner Simpson, Sierra Simpson, and Jason McCallister; her daughter-in-law, Correna Simpson; her son-in-law, Marshall McCallister; her good friends, Randy Johnson and his late wife, Gina Johnson, of Eugene, Oregon, Mikki Balicki and Roland Rhodes, of Lakeside, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, C and Marie McVay, and her brother, Don Riffle.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at El Camino Memorial - Sorrento Valley & Memorial Park, 5600 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92121.
