In Loving Memory of Phillip “Phil” Henry Yovan October 20, 1952 – May 27, 2026Phillip “Phil” Henry Yovan passed away on May 27, 2026, at the age of 73, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, adventures, friendships, and love. Born on October 20, 1952, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Alex and Lois Yovan, Phil was the youngest of three children. When he was young, his family relocated to Cupertino, California, where he spent much of his childhood and teenage years. Growing up in a family deeply rooted in the hospitality industry, Phil helped his parents operate their restaurant, pizza parlor, bar, and other business ventures. Those early experiences shaped his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. As a teenager, Phil discovered a passion that would stay with him forever—motorcycles. What began as youthful fascination grew into a lifelong hobby and true obsession. Whether riding the open road, working on engines, or sharing stories with fellow enthusiasts, motorcycles brought him endless joy throughout his life.Phil eventually made Oregon his home, where he built an exceptional career in the automotive industry. Known for his talent, determination, and problem-solving abilities, he became a top technician for a West Coast Chevrolet dealership and spent more than 17 years serving as a Northwest troubleshooter for General Motors computer control systems. His reputation for excellence led him to establish his own successful repair business, Automotive Computer Performance (ACP), in Portland, Oregon.Never one to slow down, Phil later purchased The Shack Restaurant Bar & Grill in Welches, Oregon. For a time, he successfully operated both businesses before dedicating himself fully to the restaurant. Under his leadership, The Shack became more than just a place to eat—it became a gathering place filled with good food, good conversation, and lasting memories. After 15 wonderful years, Phil sold the business and retired.Retirement brought him one of life's greatest gifts: time. Time spent traveling the world, making memories, and enjoying everyday moments with his beloved soulmate and life partner, Colleen Byers. Together for 17 years, they shared countless adventures and a deep love that carried them through 15 years of retirement filled with travel, laughter, and family.Phil's favorite stories were rarely about work. They were about houseboat trips on Shasta Lake, annual golf and hunting trips with friends, NASCAR races, motorcycle rides, and the many adventures that brought people together. He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories and never passed up an opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest. He was proud to be a member of the Mount Hood Men's Golf Club, the International Motor Car Association (IMCA), the Lions Club of Welches, Oregon, and The Van Club. Through these organizations and throughout his life, Phil formed friendships that lasted decades. Those who knew Phil will remember his larger-than-life personality, quick wit, generous heart, and unwavering determination. He was a builder, a problem solver, a storyteller, and a friend who could always be counted on. He lived boldly, worked hard, loved deeply, and embraced every opportunity for adventure.Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Lois Yovan. He is survived by his children Jacob and Libby, whom he loved, and was a grandfather who deeply loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his beloved soulmate and life partner, Colleen Byers; her children and adored grandchildren, whom loved him dearly; extended family; and countless friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him. While his passing leaves an immeasurable void, the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Phil's life was one well lived—filled with adventure, laughter, hard work, friendship, and love—and that is how he will be remembered.Forever loved, forever missed, and forever riding free. ❤️🏍️
