Richard D. Murphy

Dick Murphy passed away on February 1, 2026, at his home in Coburg, OR, from age-related causes at the age-

related causes at 86. He was born August 21, 1939, to Karl T. and Polly F. Murphy in Salem, OR.  Dick was raised in Keizer, OR, and graduated from North Salem High School in 1957.

He married Carol Ann Shorey in 1959 in Salem, OR. They later moved to Eugene, OR, where their family grew. They shared three sons: Duane Dean Murphy (1962-1968), Craig Murphy of Eugene, OR, and Neal Murphy (wife Julie) of Coburg, OR.

He is survived by four grandchildren, Amanda, Heather, Natalie, and Ryan, and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Liliana, Kylie, Lucas, Parker, and Maverick.

Richard had a lifelong passion for cars and was a fan of racing, particularly NHRA and NASCAR. Owning classic cars and attending classic car shows was a favorite pastime for him and his wife, Carol.
