It is with heavy hearts that we remember and honor the life of Steven Hughes Purkey, a beloved son, brother, uncle, artist, musician, writer and friend.

Born April 16th 1978 to Raymond L Purkey and Glenda K. Sackett in Coquille, OR Steven spent his life leaving his own unique mark on people fortunate enough to know him. He had a deep love for music, especially the guitar. A talented musician Steven could play multiple instruments and music was more than a hobby to him, it was a part of who he was. His love for music gave him a way to express himself, connect with others and create memories that will continue to live on.

Steven will be remembered not only for his musical talents, but for the place he held in the hearts of his family. His life touched many people and the memories shared with him will remain treasured.

Steven is survived by his mother Glenda Cottrell and father Raymond L. Purkey, his step father Jim Cottrell and stepmother Vickie Purkey, his grandmother Laureen Purkey, his life partner Deirdre Purdence, his sisters Lisa Purkey and Jessica Hogan and brothers Kevin Riley and Ethan Purkey, his nieces Amiah Purkey, Brileigh Purkey, Azalea Moon and nephews Scottie Heath, Konner Thomsberry, Mason Hogan, Noah Ellett, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in Eugene, OR Port Orford, OR Salem, OR Arkansas and many friends who loved him.

Though Steven is no longer here to share his music, his memory will continue to play on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Every song, every guitar chord and every memory will be a reminder of the person he was and the life he lived.

Rest peacefully Steven may your music never stop playing and may you always be remembered for the beautiful mark you left on the lives around you.
