Arvid O. Bakken

Arvid O. Bakken, 79, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on January 6, 1947, to the late Orlow and Hazel (Nordlie) Bakken in Fort Atkinson. He went to Cambridge High School. On November 12, 1966, he was united in marriage to Veronica Hewuse in Whitewater. Arvid honorably served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 spending a year in Vietnam. He worked at Jone's Dairy Farm in Fort Atkinson as a meat cutter for over 37 years until retiring in 2009. Arvid enjoyed watching sports as well as driving his 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix convertible in the Cambridge Memorial Day Parade, which he did for 30 years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion and was the Quarter Master for Deerfield-Cambridge Post #9424 for over 42 years. Arvid especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

Those Arvid leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 59 years, Veronica Bakken; two children, Kimberly Rusch and Bradley Bakken; four grandchildren, Matthew Rusch, Joshua Rusch, Cole Bakken, and Michaela Banker; one great-grandchild, Weston Rusch; two brothers, David Bakken and Dale (Karen) Bakken; a sister, Beverly Hebul; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his four brothers, Donald, Roger, Rodney, and Eugene Bakken and his sister, Kenlyn Cusick.

VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends at Rockdale Lutheran Church, 107 Water St., Cambridge on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

SERVICE: A Memorial service in remembrance of Arvid will be at the church Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will follow the service at Rockdale Cemetery.

The family would like to thank their wonderful neighbors, relatives, and friends for all their kindness and caring during Arvid's illness.
