Ronald M. Simdon

Ronald Maynard Simdon, 94, of Cambridge passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Autumn Winds in Cambridge.

He was born on November 29, 1931, to the late Ernest and Mary (nee Streseman) Simdon in the Town of Oakland.

Ronald graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949. On July 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Ruth Krause of Fort Atkinson.

Ron worked at Highway Trailer in Edgerton until the plant closed and was later employed at Ladish Malt. He built Pyramid Liquor & Motel in Lake Mills in 1991, now the site of Culver's.

He especially enjoyed watching the deer, turkeys, and other birds that visited his property, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Ron is survived by his children, Janet (Norbert) Peitz of Lake Mills, Nancy (special friend Mark Duerr) Van Lanen of Waupaca, Scott (Amy) Simdon of Cambridge, Mark (special friend Karen Messier) Simdon of Cambridge, Jill (John) Dundee of Janesville, and Dan Simdon of Cambridge; grandchildren, Andy (Lisa) Werner, Emily (Steve) Alexander, Cindy (Ken) Bockhop, Jennifer (Kyle) Budewitz, and Katherine (Sam Chicker) Simdon; great-grandchildren, James (Courtney) Bockhop, Lizzy and Emma Bockhop, Hannah Alexander and George and Reggie Chicker. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Mary; son-in-law, William Van Lanen, and his six siblings, Wilfred (Mildred) Simdon, Gordon (Betty) Simdon, Vernon Simdon, Howard (Betty) Simdon, Franklin (Ida) Simdon, and Arlene Turpin.

Private burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, September 19, from 1 to 4 pm at the American Legion in Lake Mills.

The family is grateful to Rainbow Hospice for their care and extends and very heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Autumn Winds.
