Timothy David Rue

Timothy “Tim” David Rue, 60, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 31, 2026.

Tim was born on May 15, 1965 in Fort Atkinson, WI to the late Donald “Don” Rue and Mikel (Bibow) Lilley.

After a term as military police in the US Air Force, Tim served as a police officer in Fort Atkinson for 14 years.

Tim was an avid sports fan. ESPN was always on in the background, but he had a particular love for the Packers, Marquette basketball, and tennis. In his earlier years he was a fantastic tennis player, playing in college and going on to compete in many tournaments, including the World Police and Fire Games where he came in 3rd place out of over 200 police and firefighters worldwide. He also cherished his time coaching the boys tennis team at Fort Atkinson High School, as well as his daughters’ basketball teams.

Tim loved nothing more than spending time around a campfire with his family and Metallica playing in the background. Even better if there were brats and potato salad involved. He was an affectionate, fun and mischievous grandpa to his 10 grandkids. If Grandpa Rue was around you knew there were going to be shenanigans. He will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his 4 children, Amanda (Jeremy) Busse, Amber Rue, Lindsey (Nate) Prisk, and Tim (Avarie) Rue; his grandchildren, Alice and Juniper Busse, Jackson, Charlette, Harrison, and Rosalie Wakefield, and Londyn, Beckham, Navy and Sonny Prisk; his sister Julie (Scott) Ihlenfeld; brother Jeff (Karen) Rue and beloved nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his partner of 17 years, Kim Farkas and his parents.

A memorial service will be held at Nitardy Funeral home (1008 Madison Avenue. Fort Atkinson, WI) on Friday, April 17 at 1pm followed by a visitation from 2-4pm.
