Catharine Jane Mott

Jun 29, 1935 — Oct 7, 2026

Cathy Mott of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on October 7, 2026, with family by her side.

Cathy was born at home in Grand Junction, Colorado to Medford and Daisy Haven in 1935.

Cathy’s father was in construction, and they moved many times to follow the work. Some of the places she lived were Oklahoma City, Grand Junction, Palisade, Montrose, Marble, Redstone and Crystal, Colorado until finally settling in Boulder, Colorado for an extended time.

She graduated from Boulder High School and then Barnes Business School where she met her husband of 54 years, Robert Mott. He told her he would take her to the school picnic if she would wear lipstick – scandalous!! They were married in 1955.

They started their married life in Denver, lived a short time in California and then settled in Northglenn, Colorado for the next 40 years and this is where they raised their three children.

Cathy was a hard worker and over her life she held many interesting jobs, some of which were nanny, librarian, and lost luggage delivery. The majority of her working years were spent as a bookkeeper for the small, family-owned Cromar’s audio-visual company in Denver. She retired as a Financial Analyst from Storage Tek where she enjoyed working with her son, Chuck.

After her husband passed in 2010, Cathy traveled in her motorhome for a while and then spent 5 years in Harlingen, Texas where she made many, many friends and cherished memories.

In December 2020 she moved to Greeley to live with Tom and Cheri. Cathy and Cheri spent many hours working in the garden together, planting as many different flowers as they could find, doing jigsaw puzzles, and playing cards.

Cathy always loved sewing, but she started a new hobby in 2008 and became a very talented quilter. She joined and led quilt groups wherever she lived. She made quilts for veterans, foster children, and Trinity Lutheran’s quilt auction, as well as one for every member of her family. She also loved all kinds of crafts, particularly ceramics and diamond dots.

Cathy is survived by her children; Chuck (Karen) Mott, Don Mott, Cheri (Tom) Morgan; grandchildren; Jason (Jen) Mott, Lindsay (Brad) Day, Jennifer Martinez, Krisie Mott, Katie (Jared) Arthur, Mary Fassler; great grandchildren; McKenna Mott, Riley Mott, Sophie Day, Charlie Day, King Arthur, and Isaac Fassler. She is also survived by her baby sister and lifelong friend Betty (Jeff) Florance of California. She had lots of nieces and nephews and oh so many people she considered part of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert; her brothers Allan and Leonard, and her half siblings Elmo, Iola and Harvey.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Christ Community Church at 1301 15th St. in Greeley, CO. The service will be live streamed on Cathy’s Facebook page.

In honor of Cathy, donations can be made to Christ Community or her granddaughter’s nonprofit ministry, Bethesda Ministries.
