David John Schommer

David John Schommer, 72, of Greeley passed away, at home, on August 11, 2026, of a heart attack.

David was born November 5, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Edwin and Lucy (Madden) Schommer. He was the second of seven children. He was raised in Hopkins, Minnesota until 1965 when his family moved to Greeley.

Dave attended St. Peters School and graduated from Greeley West High school. Dave was a gifted athlete and during his school years played baseball and basketball.

After Graduation, he played softball for many years and developed lifelong friendships. During his working years, he worked for Central homes, Monfort, and retired from Walmart on October 27, 1984.

David Married Jonnie Sencer in Greeley. He became an instant father to Jason Spencer. They would have celebrated 43 years of marriage this October.

David was a huge fan of the Broncos, Nuggets, and the Colorado Avalanche. After his retirement he played a lot of golf. He formed strong bonds with the other 3 members of his golf foursome, Benny Eckhardt, Mick Seerey, and Al Dominguez.

Dave will be remembered for his kindness and caring and his innate stubbornness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson, Jason Spencer, and a brother Allen.

He is survived by 4 brothers; Dan (Vicky) Schommer of Greeley, Mike (Rosie) Schommer, Tom (Carolyn) Schommer of Denver, and Paul Schommer of Greeley, and 2 sisters; Diane (Steve) Kline of Cheyenne, Wy., and Connie (Pat) Crouch of Nebraska. He also leaves behind a special nephew Matt Schommer of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his wife, Jonnie, and his beloved canine companion Eddie.

Per David's wishes, there will be no services held.
