Harry Charles Thompson Jr.

Harry Charles Thompson, Jr. 82, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of July 25, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was listening to Johnny Cash and holding his daughter Amy's hand when he passed away peacefully. 

Harry was born in Duluth, Min. March 12, 1944, to Delores Runke (Koski) and was adopted by his parents Harry and Charlotte who raised him in Denver, Colorado. 

He went to Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma getting a degree in Business and continued with a master's degree from the University of Northern Colorado. He met Janice while they were both in college, married her on June 2, 1967, and they were married 59 years. 

Harry was a go getter and stared Thompson's Garage Door Service after doing many jobs in Greeley. Fifty-two "52" years of service to Greeley and surrounding areas. He continued to go to work daily with his daughter Amy. He was an avid Buick car collector amassing an amazing 60 cars (all Buicks) and spent time looking and talking to any person who was interested. He could be seen driving around the property daily in his golf cart with the 4 dogs following him.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; children: Harry "Charlie" (Sheila) of Ft. Collins, Jeff (Michelle), Amy Mendoza (David), and Lora "Lori" of Greeley; grandchildren: Jeremy (Yolanda) Mendoza, Tonya Mendoza; Brody (Reise) Thompson and Evan Thompson; Jeffery Thompson (Annie) and Jessica Thompson Wertz (TJ); sisters Carolyn, Lol, and Cathy, and brothers Leo, and Mike from Minnesota and 8 great grandchildren.

A celebration of Harry's life will be held Friday August 7, 2026, at 10 am at Thompson's Garage Door, 510 4th Ave., Greeley, Co. 80631
