Jack Lawrence Ybarra

Jack Lawrence Ybarra, 59, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away on April 28, 2026.

Jack was born on April 24, 1967, in Greeley Colorado, to Joe and Donna (Nicholson) Ybarra. He attended district 6 schools and graduated from Greeley Central High School with the class of ’86.

Jack had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing just about every sport. In his younger years he played football, baseball, wrestled and enjoyed playing basketball whenever he could pick up a game. As he grew older, he developed a love for hockey and would get together with his friends and family at a park with a roller rink or a large parking lot to play. Whether he was cheering on his home teams, the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, and his favorite the Colorado Avalanche, or staying active himself, sports brought him great joy throughout his life.

Jack loved his music. He attended many concerts throughout the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s. He never mentioned his favorite band but loved rock and roll. The saying if it’s too loud, you are too old applied to Jack.

Jack was incredibly loyal and devoted to his family and friends. He would drop everything to help his loved ones. His nieces and nephews who spent time with him would say he was by far the favorite uncle. The kids always said they felt seen and heard when it came to him, he was an overgrown kid himself.

He is survived by his brother Joseph Ybarra (Stacy Baca), sister Jolene Klein, brother Jason Ybarra (Marcy), nieces & nephews, Nathan, Nicholas (Olivia), Barbara (Jesse), Jadyn, Jaron, & great niece Genevieve.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe Ybarra, mother Donna Ybarra, Grandfather Lawrence “Jack” Nicholson, Grandmother Clara (Fillmore) Nicholson, Grandfather Frank Ybarra, Grandmother Margaret (Valdez) Ybarra, and many additional loved aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jack will be remembered for his love of sports, music, and the time he shared with family and friends. He left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Northern Colorado Crematory, 700 8th St, Greeley, CO 80631.

Please feel free to wear your favorite Colorado sports team apparel or whatever you feel relaxed in. Jack would want everyone to be dressed comfortably and not to please.
