Robert Louis Sprouse Jr.
February 28, 1945 — June 8, 2026
Robert “Bob” Sprouse, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Severance, Colorado, surrounded by his family on June 8, 2026. Born on February 28, 1945, in Denver, Colorado—famously arriving in the car parked in front of the Governor’s Mansion—Bob was the son of Robert and Betty Sprouse.
On February 17, 1968, Bob married the love of his life, Mary, and together they built a beautiful life filled with devotion, laughter, and adventure. They raised three daughters—Missy, Lesley, and Trish—who remained the center of his world.
Bob spent his career with Mountain Bell/US West, retiring in 1990. Throughout his life, he nurtured a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed white water rafting, fishing, restoring old Jeeps, and traveling with family and friends. Many of his happiest days were spent at Lake Powell, where he created lifelong memories on the water. In 1992, he fulfilled a dream by building a home in the mountains of Cotopaxi, Colorado, where he lived for more than 20 years before moving closer to his children.
Bob is survived by his wife Mary; daughters Missy, Lesley (Mike), and Trish (Mark); grandchildren Makayla, Blake, Raiden, Michael, Kivera, and Alyssa; sister Ginger (Warren); nephews Danny (Chalane) and Max (Sarah); great‑nephews Dustin (Brenda) and Nico; and great‑niece Amanda (Chris). He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Marge (Bob) and Corrine (Jim); and uncles Cliff and Paul.
