Steven Ray Valdez

July 3, 1970 — May 22, 2026

Steven Ray Valdez, known to many simply as Steve, passed away suddenly and unbelievably on May 22, 2026, in Greeley, Colorado. Born on July 3, 1970, in Kimball, Nebraska, Steve's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and the fierce love he carried for his family and friends.

Steve’s passion for the automotive industry was evident throughout his career as a parts manager, a role he embraced with pride and commitment. Beyond his professional life, he was a highly skilled home mechanic, always ready to lend his expertise and fix what needed care. His hands not only mended engines but also crafted comfort and stability for those he loved most.

He wore his heart on his sleeve—protective and loving, Steve was never shy about expressing his emotions. Quick-witted and full of good-natured teasing, especially for those he considered close friends, he brought laughter and warmth into every room he entered. Steve was fiercely proud of his culinary skills, a talent that brought joy to family gatherings and smiles to faces around the dinner table.

A passionate enthusiast of the rock band KISS, Steve collected memorabilia over the years that told the story of a lifelong fan's devotion. His love for music found its social outlet in regular nights playing pool and lighting up karaoke venues, where his energy and spirit shone brightly. His prowess extended beyond hobbies; he was a black belt in kenpo karate, a semi-pro football player for the Colorado Warriors, and most recently, a billiards tournament champion, achievements that spoke to his discipline, strength, and competitive spirit.

Above all, Steve’s proudest accomplishments were his children: James Valdez, his oldest son; Robert Valdez, his youngest son; and his daughter, Rachael Valdez. His unwavering love and steadfast support for them defined his purpose and his heart. Alongside his children, Makayla Kooser, his devoted girlfriend, stood by him, sharing moments of happiness and companionship.

Steve's life, rooted in love and resilience, was also shaped by family who came before him—his late mother, Shirley Valdez; his late father, Raymond Valdez; and his beloved wife, Diana Valdez. Their memories live on in the legacy he leaves behind.

Steve worked tirelessly to support his family as they grew, always ending each day with expressions of love that never went unnoticed. Though his passing has left an unfillable space, those who knew him carry with them the enduring imprint of a man who loved deeply, laughed loudly, and lived fully.

He will be remembered fondly, missed greatly, and cherished forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Steven Ray Valdez’s journey may have ended too soon, but his spirit and devotion continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him.
