Michael Durham Farr

Michael Durham Farr of Martinez, California passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026 at the

age of 86. He was born August 23rd, 1939 to Jesse Romney and Phyllis Durham Farr, in

Berkeley, California. Mike and his sister Pat grew up in Palo Alto, California.

As a young man, Mike served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in

Samoa. He loved the people there and took every opportunity to speak the language for the

rest of his life.

Mike graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and his Juris

Doctorate from UC Berkeley. He spent his career as a Deputy County Counsel with Contra

Costa County.

Mike married Susan Joy Ongman in 1967 and they shared 59 years, 5 children and 12

grandchildren together. Mike loved reading, movies, watching sports, spending time with his

family, and serving at Church.

Mike is survived by his wife Susan; his children, Christian, Vicki and Jon Eric Thalman, Ian and

Anne-Marie, Randy and Jessie, Collin and Jen; his grandchildren, Abigail and Preston

Reynolds, Rebekah, Elijah, Caleb, Eliza, Rachel, Ayla, Jane, Andrew, Hudson, Ellen, and

Caroline; and his sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Lance Wickman.

Funeral Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 940 Palisade

Drive, Martinez, California, on Saturday, July 25th. Viewing, 10:30 - 11:45 and Funeral service

at noon.
