Roman Romero

Roman Rubio Romero came into this world on 4/21/31 in the small town of Lemitar, New Mexico. He was born to Isidro and Elisisa Romero. He passed from this world into the Kingdom of God on 8/7/2026.

He entered the US Marine Corps on 11/9/1951 and was immediately sent to the front lines of the Korean War and he fought valiantly in the war for almost 2 years. He was extremely proud to be a Marine Veteran and to have served his country. He received several medals, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal & Nat’l Defense Medal. We thank him for his service.

When he returned from Military service he asked the Love of his life, Criza Trujillo to marry him and they were happily married for 68 years. They lived a wonderful life together and raised two sons. He was a devoted and loving husband. He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome to many states, Nat’l parks and lakes.

After his Military service he became an auto repair mechanic and then joined the Federal Gov’t Dept. of Interior and became a heavy equipment operator. A career that he enjoyed for 25 years. He was also a volunteer fireman and rose to the position of Ass’t Chief. He was very interested and concerned with the safety of his community.

He had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was always successful in bringing home a deer every year and was also an avid fisherman. Later in life he also enjoyed playing golf and watching both basketball and football.

He lived in Socorro until 2011 then made the move to California to be close to their sons. He lived in the beautiful community of Rossmoor in Walnut Creek until his passing on 8/7/2026. He will certainly be missed.

Roman is survived by his wife Criza Romero, his two sons Robert & Ernest Trujillo, his daughters in law, Christina and Beverly Trujillo, his 4 grandchildren, Kristen Trujillo, Lauren Everitt, Rhiannon Diebling and Shelby Trujillo. He is also survived by his two brothers Albert and Leandro Romero and his sister Sara Lucero.

He will be buried at the Veteran cemetery at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. A Veteran Legacy Memorial Page has been created for Roman at www.cem.va.gov
