Alexander "Alex" Melendez, 51, of Davenport, Florida, passed away on June 19, 2026 at his sister’s residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 31, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York, to Jose Luis Melendez and Ana Myrna Lopez. Alex dedicated 20 years of service to Walt Disney World, where he worked in maintenance. He was of the Catholic faith and was known for his hardworking nature and devotion to his family.
Alex had a passion for collecting shoes, especially sneakers, and took great pride in his collection. He enjoyed spending his free time watching Netflix and was a devoted fan of Marvel movies, Star Wars, and superhero films of all kinds. Music was also an important part of his life, and he especially enjoyed listening to rap music. He also enjoyed spending time with his two children and cherished the moments they shared together.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Luis Melendez, and his brother, Cory James Negron. Alex leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved children, Ixander J. Melendez and Olexa L. Melendez; his mother, Ana M. Melendez; his sister, Anna N. Negron; his niece, Nikita L. Santiago; and his nephew, Elian A. Santiago; his aunt, Lucy Marrero; and his cousins, Jeannette Marrero, Annette Marrero, Lynnette Marrero, Antoinette Marrero and Veronica Melendez. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on July 6, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. The family will be receiving friends at 2:00 pm. His cremated remains will be inter privately at Forest Hill Cemetery.
