Alicia Martinez, affectionately known as "Ali," passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Haines City, Florida, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 22, 1932, in Manati, Puerto Rico, Alicia’s life was marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her career.
A dedicated professional, Alicia worked for approximately 20 years with Abbott Pharmaceuticals and Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to the pharmaceutical industry. Alongside her career achievements, she was also a great housewife and mother, balancing both roles with unwavering grace and love.
Alicia moved to Florida in 1996 from Puerto Rico and became an active and faithful servant in her community. She was a devoted member of the Iglesia Discipulos de Cristo of Puerto Rico, where her faith as a follower of the Baptist tradition inspired many. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her life, reflected in her dedication to both her church and family.
Known for her warmth and hospitality, Alicia was celebrated as a great cook. She took immense pride in nurturing relationships and was beloved by many nieces and nephews, earning her the cherished role of a wonderful Auntie.
She is survived by her loving children: Castulo Cuevas, Jr., Daniel Cuevas, Miguel Angel "Mickey" Cuevas, David Cuevas, and Ruth Cuevas. Alicia was also a proud grandmother to Alicia Cuevas and Jennica Cuevas-Matos. Her family was the center of her world, and she leaves behind a legacy built on love and devotion.
Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel Menendez and Juana Martinez, and her husband, Castulo Cuevas.
Services to honor Alicia’s life will be held in Haines City, Florida. Visitation will take place on April 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Oak Ridge Funeral Care - Haines City, located at 1001 E Grace Ave. This will be followed by a Funeral Service at the same location from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The following day, a Graveside Service will be held on April 28, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, 2646 E. Grace Avenue.
Alicia Martinez's memory will endure through her family, her contributions to her profession, her faithful service to her church, and the many lives she touched with kindness and generosity. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
