In Loving Memory of Brenda Kaye Douglas
August 5, 1950 – October 27, 2026
Brenda Kaye Douglas, 76, made her grand entrance into this world on August 5, 1950, in a car on the way to the hospital in Kissimmee, Florida. Apparently, Brenda was in a hurry to get life started, and she spent the next 76 years making sure everyone around her enjoyed the ride.
Brenda had a smile that could light up a room, a heart big enough for everyone, and a playful sense of humor that kept those around her laughing. She never missed an opportunity to lovingly pick on someone, offer a helping hand, or brighten an ordinary day.
A barber by trade, or a "Barbarette," as she preferred to call herself, Brenda had the pleasure of cutting hair for the University of Florida Gator football players and even legendary coach Steve Spurrier. A devoted Gators fan, she loved her orange and blue, a good game of billiards, a cold A&W root beer, and making banana pudding that nobody could quite match.
Above all, Brenda was a woman of unwavering faith. She faithfully served her church, working with children and serving as a temple worker. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived, the joy she shared, and the steadfast support she gave her family and friends.
Brenda leaves behind her beloved children, Grady Daniel Walker, Jr., and Dana Nichole Walker; grandchildren, CJ Jones (Michelle), Chelsea Jones (Zion), and Catera Jones; great-grandchildren, Zaidyn McGee, Mekhi Jones, Josiah Jones, Zahlee Roberson, Zander Jones, and Zehlani Willis; and sisters, Linda Bastine and Tanya Rooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewel and Buster Rooks; her precious great-grandchild, Zeelyn Jones; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Bastine.
While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing Brenda's faith has carried her home. We can only imagine the joyful reunion in Heaven, and knowing Brenda, she's already making somebody smile.
Visitation will be held October 31, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, Florida, followed by a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, Florida.
Brenda's laughter may be quiet now, but her love, her faith, and the joy she brought into this world will echo through generations. And whenever the Gators play, a pool ball drops, or someone makes a really good banana pudding, we'll have one more reason to smile and remember her.
Brenda, good and faithful servant, may you dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
