Dorothy Sue Ricks

Dorothy Sue Ricks, a lifelong resident of Haines City, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026. She was born on June 5, 1939, in Trion, Georgia, to Monte Theo and Leitha Hammock Wooten. Sue worked for Disney as a restaurant manager for 19½ years before working for 12 years as a grader in the citrus industry. She was a devoted member of the Baptist faith.

Sue enjoyed coloring, playing Toy Blast on her tablet, and playing bingo. She loved arts and crafts and, most of all, spending time with her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved. Sue was fun, loving, sweet, kind, thoughtful, and understanding. Her caring nature and loving heart will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Monte and Leitha Wooten; her husband, Eugene Ricks; her sons, Ronald Ricks and Jeffrey Ricks; and her siblings, Evelyn Terry, Harold Wooten, and Billy Wooten.

Sue is survived by her children, Clifford Ricks, Thomas Ricks, Michelle Gill, and Mellissa Curry; her brother, Wayne Wooten; her grandchildren, Micheal Ricks and fiancée Logan, and Mercedes Ricks; and her great-grandchildren, Shiori Ricks, Edward Simmons, Bradley Simmons, and Marley Ricks.

There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sue’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
