Doug Wright

Sep 11, 1965 — Jul 26, 2026

Doug Wright, of Haines City, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026. He was born on September 11, 1965, in Lebanon, Virginia, to Jerry Douglas and Dorothy Faye Jessee Wright. Doug moved to Florida in 1983 from Dante, Virginia. He dedicated 40 years of service as a food service host at Walt Disney World, retiring in January 2026. He was also a faithful member of Haven Worship Center in Winter Haven, Florida.

Doug enjoyed carpentry, challenging himself with word puzzles, and spending time with his beloved pets, Sofia, his faithful dog, and Kringle, his cherished cat. He loved strolling through street markets and shopping with his wife, treasured every moment with his family, and never missed an opportunity to tell his wife how beautiful she was. Though naturally reserved, Doug had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his signature phrase, "Yeah Baby," a line he happily borrowed from one of his favorite movies. His kindness, devotion, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Douglas Wright and Dorothy Faye Jessee Wright; his sister, Leshia Hall; and his nephew, Randy. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Nyrsa Wright; his brothers, Tim Wright and his wife, Reese, and Kerry Wright, both of Virginia; his sister, Faye Hubbard and her husband, Myron, of Friendsville, Tennessee; his niece, Katherine; and his nephews, Joshua, Ricky, Waylon, and Daniel.

There will not be a service at this time.

The family is grateful for the love, prayers, and support extended to them during this difficult time
