Francisco W. Santillana
Feb 17, 1952 — Jul 16, 2026
Francisco W. Santillana, affectionately known as "Tijera," passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, in Haines City, Florida, at the age of 74. Born on February 17, 1952, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Francisco led a life that touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Francisco’s journey began in the vibrant city of Santo Domingo, where he was born to Francisco M. Santillana and Altagracia Reyes Santillana, both of whom preceded him in death he moved from there to New York City in 1974 and in 1980 he moved to Homestead, Long Island and finally he moved to Haines City in 2008. The values, traditions, and work ethic instilled by his parents served as a guiding light throughout his life, shaping him into the respected and compassionate man remembered by his loved ones today. He was the proud owner of Santillana Taxes for over 30 years, but the title of the company did not say it all, as Francisco did a whole lot more for his friends and clients. He was more than helpful to those in need in filling out forms for people who didn't speak English or just needed help deciphering what the forms were all about.
He delighted in watching baseball and football, rooting on his New York teams, the Yankees and the Jets, he also liked to watch boxing. He is remembered for being a bit of a philosopher. Francisco was extremely fond of his German Shepherd, Lady, who predeceased him.
Francisco is survived by his devoted wife, Ana Santillana, of 47 years, who stood by his side in both joys and challenges, embodying the deep partnership they shared. He is lovingly remembered by his children: his daughter, Francheska "Cheska" Santillana and her husband, Ryan Garcia, and his son, Steven Alexander Moreno, both of whom were endless sources of pride and happiness for Francisco. His legacy and gentle spirit continue through his grandson, Cypher Garcia Santillana, whose laughter and curiosity brought Francisco immense joy in his later years. He is also survived by his niece, Kirsis Orquidea Minaya Santillana, a cherished member of his extended family.
Francisco’s family and friends recall his steadfastness, his warmth, and the quiet strength he brought to every relationship. He was not only a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, but also a friend whose wisdom and generosity left a lasting imprint on those fortunate enough to share in his life’s journey.
As his family mourns his passing, they find solace in the countless memories and the lasting legacy of kindness, resilience, and love Francisco leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever honored by those whose lives he touched. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
