             Gary Passmore

             November 4, 1941 to May 14, 2026

Survived by his wife Shiela and his two sons Jeffrey and

Christopher. Gary was a husband and father that was loved and

respected. He was the last of his direct family located in Michigan

where he still has extended family and spent a significant portion of

his life. He was married to Shiela for 60 years, a testament to his

dedication to his family. He was fortunate to see Chris marry his wife,

Adrian, and see Jef with his partner, Jonathan.

Gary spent his life making sure his family always had

adventures, life education, and bonding times. This was extended to

his grandchildren, Sara and Leo, taking them fishing at Welk Resort in

San Diego. Shiela was taken on several adventures as well like

canoeing towards alligators, section hiking the Appalachian Trail (1

mile at a time), and hiking through the woods distracting the bears.

There are special memories of him and Chris working together in the

workshop learning how to use different tools and working on Chris’

first cars.

During his career, he spent time in the US Navy, worked for the

US government, and finally Abbott Laboratories. In the navy, he was

on two tours in Vietnam on the USS Tripoli as a Petty Officer in

technical security. He continued this line of work until his retirement

when he was able to spend more time to focus on his lifelong friends

and family.

He handled life with a calming demeanor and facing

challenges with a smile. During his last times with us, his care team even

referred to him as “Smiley” because every time someone walked into

the room, he would just turn and smile at them. One of his pleasures

in life was simply sitting on the front porch with Shiela and a glass of

wine, greeting the neighbors and those that passed by. His loved

ones know that is exactly where they will find him once we meet

again…
