Hilda Gail Mabon

Jun 3, 1952 — Sep 24, 2026

Hilda Gail Mabon, of Davenport, Florida, passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at her residence on September 24, 2026. She was born on June 3, 1952, in Stanton, Tennessee, to Johnnie Moses and Bernice Bond Rogers. She moved to Chicago, Illinois and later moved to Galesburg, Illinois to raise her family. She had dedicated 40 years of her life to working as a Licensed Practical Nurse before retiring in 2015. All of her patients loved her and they would look forward to her coming in on her shift. Hilda was also a former member of the Galesburg Park View Seventh-day Adventist Church. And to further enjoy her retirement years, in August 2021, she moved to Florida where she enjoyed the warmer weather and the sunny beaches.

Hilda was known for her million dollar smile, as well as her loving kindness, her quiet demeanor, and her composed strength. She truly enjoyed going to the beach, taking nature walks, watching comedy movies, doing word search puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren. Above all, Hilda cherished the time she spent with her family and the memories they made together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Bernice Rogers; her two sisters that passed at birth, Joyce and Linda Rogers, along with her brother-in-law, Hugh Moore. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 48 years, Willie James Mabon Sr.; her children, Angela Gail Williams and husband Brian, Willie James Mabon Jr. and wife Angelica, Tracee Danyelle Hulse and husband Rhett, and John Marcus Mabon; her sisters, Johnnie Mae Allen and husband Lawrence, Bonita Barksdale and husband Ronie, Carol Moore, Elaine Demonbreum and husband Larry, Debra Powell and husband Gregory; her sister-cousin, Kimberly Jacobs and husband Billy; her four grandchildren, Anthony Rogers, Javae Mabon, Greek Hulse, and Braelyn Williams; her two great-grandchildren, Angelo and Kamryn Rogers; and many other extended family members and friends.
