Jonas Salomon Alvarado

September 21, 1959 – April 7, 2026, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jonas Salomon Alvarado, a beloved husband, father, and friend, who left us on April 7, 2026, in Florida. Jonas was born in Ecuador on September 21, 1959, to José and Laura Alvarado, and he brought joy and laughter to those around him throughout his life. Jonas served honorably in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 20, dedicating eight years of his life to the service of his country. Following his Marine career, he continued his commitment to service in the Army Reserve for an additional twelve years, where he received multiple accolades, notably as a sharpshooter. His time in the military instilled in him the values of discipline, loyalty, and dedication, qualities that he carried into every aspect of his life. A loving husband to Sherina and a dedicated father to Isaac and Anjali, he was the cornerstone of his family. His nurturing spirit and generosity knew no bounds, as he supported his loved ones with unwavering loyalty and affection. Jonas's playful sense of humor and energetic nature created countless cherished memories, particularly during family movie nights and while watching football, a passion he shared with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sherina, his beloved children, Isaac and Anjali. His father, José, and mother, Laura preceded him in death. Additionally, Jonas will be deeply missed by his siblings—Sabino, Jorge, Luis, Estela, and Maria. He leaves behind an extended family of in-laws, including Feroze, Roy, Vicky, Vinod, Sindy, Mujeeb, Nicole, Robin, Adriana, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by his kindness and generosity. A visitation and a funeral service to honor Jonas will be held at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, located at 1001 E Grace Avenue, Haines City on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 1:00 pm until the funeral at 2:00 pm. The committal service will be Thursday at 11:00 am at Florida National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the ceremony as they pay their last respects to a remarkable man who lived life with integrity, compassion, and love. In our hearts, we echo the sentiment expressed in Jonas's chosen tombstone quote: *“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”* (2 Timothy 4:7-8). He will forever be remembered for his loving nature and the impact he had on all who knew him.
