Jan 13, 1932 — Apr 6, 2026

Margaret (Marge) Maude Zimmer (Cassidy)

passed away peacefully at her home in Haines City, FL on April 6, 2026

Marge was born on January 13, 1932, in Patterson, NJ and raised in Hawthorne, NJ. She is the daughter of the late Thomas George Cassidy and Erma Blanche Cassidy (Brenner).

Marge was predeceased by her husband Roy Alfred Zimmer on November 4, 2009, and her two brothers, Thomas George Cassidy Jr and John Robert Cassidy.

Marge and Roy, High School sweethearts, married in 1953 and raised three sons, Donald R. Zimmer and

Guy A. Zimmer both of Florida, and Glenn R. Zimmer of Maine. In addition, she leaves three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Marge attended Hawthorne High School, was an excellent student and majorette supporting school events. After graduating she accepted a job in sales at a popular NYC clothing store. She worked hard and was promoted quickly into a buyers position which she held for several years.

While raising her family Marge found the time to express herself as an artist, creating beautiful landscape and still life oil paintings which filled her home. She was also a skilled seamstress making costumes for local school plays and community theater events.

In the early 1980’s Marge and Roy embarked on a new adventure with the purchase of the Pasquaney Inn on Newfound Lake in Bridgewater NH, which they owned and operated for five years. Marge’s skills in purchasing, organizing and cooking contributed greatly to the Inn’s success. After selling the Inn, Marge worked as a chef in a local nursing home until they moved permanently to their winter home in Florida.

Marge was a longtime resident of her retirement community and had many friends and was loved by all who met her. She was an active member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Haines City, FL where she also faithfully served as the Director of the Alter Guild for a number of years.
