Mario Benedict Fernandes

Mario Benedict Fernandes, 52, of St. Cloud, Florida, passed away on August 16, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1974, in Georgetown, Guyana, to Neil Benedict and Marjorie Olive Hing Fernandes. Mario moved to Florida in August 2023 from Georgetown, Guyana. He was a self-employed catering business owner and a member of Saint Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.

Mario was a deeply family-oriented man who found great happiness and fulfillment when surrounded by his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, building and fixing things, and hosting and entertaining his loved ones. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to those around him and for the love he had for his family and friends.

Mario is survived by his parents, Neil and Marjorie Fernandes; his loving wife, Farah Hanniff-Fernandes, whom he married on August 22, 1998, in Georgetown, Guyana; his sons, Brandt Matthew Fernandes and Donte Benedict Fernandes; his brothers, Jay Thaddeus Fernandes and Ryan Andrew Fernandes; and his sisters, Simone Maria Mahabub and Melissa Angie Fernandes. 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 20th, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Ann Catholic Church in Haines City. His final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
